Cinco fotógrafos y fotógrafas han recorrido durante 48 horas un barrio asignado con una cámara instantánea. El proyecto tiene como objetivo crear un mosaico de todos los barrios que, como micromundos, conforman la ciudad de Gijón.
Sostiene Ruth Miguel Franco en su libro «La belleza del barrio» que «las ciudades posmodernas no pretenden albergar al individuo, sino entretenerlo. En ellas, todo es símbolo y experiencia».
¿Cómo habitamos las ciudades? ¿Qué papel juega el barrio dentro de la ciudad? En la actualidad, las ciudades cada vez más se convierten en clones de sí mismas, en parques temáticos de entretenimiento, como señala la escritora. En este sentido, el barrio y sus particulares características identitarias desempeñan una función primordial y necesaria frente a la creciente uniformización de las urbes contemporáneas.

Five photographers spent 48 hours exploring an assigned neighbourhood with an instant camera. The project aims to create a mosaic of all the neighbourhoods which, like micro-worlds, make up the city of Gijón.

How do we inhabit cities? What role does the neighbourhood play within the city? Nowadays, cities are increasingly becoming clones of themselves, entertainment theme parks, as the writer points out. In this regard, the neighbourhood and its distinctive identity play a vital and necessary role in the face of the growing standardisation of contemporary cities.
